The Art of Swimming, Acrylic Painting

Upclose fish   upclose painting red

Abstract, original painting of swimming in the deep blue ocean.

I let myself feel free to express my self with no concept in mind. As I explored my emotions and kept my mind free of form and open, this painting emerged. I used many different size brushes, tools and materials. What a surprise to find myself swimming into the sea of bliss.

Perfect for the collector who is also free.

The Model as a Muse

Trish MC 3 paintings oil desktop

Inspired by style of Great Artist Matisse. Self portrait using the concept of Matisse’s wife. It has been long noted that when you have an artwork of Matisse, or resemblance, thereof in your collection, home, office, studio, you are channeling a happy, uplifting and content feeling. I have always been drawn to color and the dance of the psyche. Especially Matisse and Chagall. I received a wonderful compliment to my style that when you paint like Matisse and Chagall, you paint vibrant and happy things.

Unframed Canvas 36x 24. If you are a local buyer, please contact me to decrease shipping/delivery cost. Available for note cards, sold separately. Buying this item does not relinquish the rights to the artist to reproduce prints of this artwork.

Trump Towers

Displayed at the “Nasty Women” Exhibition, Helmuth Project Art Gallery, San Diego, January 2017

Trump Towers, Oil on Canvas. Note the Pink Pussy Bow Blouse that Melania Trump wore at one of the debates with the Trump Ladies all in Pussy Bows! At the Bottom is Margaret Thatcher, 1st Female British Prime Minister who embodied the Pussy Bow. It became a softening iconic image of strong, educated, political, business women when wearing their business suites to include                                                                                                                       their own style of femininity.

Trish Vernazza was born and raised in Tampa, Florida, the Sunshine State, which made her an original “Tampon”. As a young Feminist teen she stood on street corners holding ERA, Equal Rights Amendment signs with her Grey Panther Grandmothers.   It was passed in 1972 but not ratified in Florida until 1982.  This spurred her journey of social and political art activist. Her grandmothers taught her to sew and create while she listened to wise elders stories. After traveling the World, Pan American Flight attendant, soaking up culture with life changing experiences, she now listens for a living helping others as a Psychotherapist, Artist Therapist, Artist.

I have always addressed politics with satire and humor.  I was raised in a house divided.  My mother was a staunch republican and my father liberal democrat.  Mom would make jello and cookies around election times using donkey and elephant molds.  We would laugh which parts got eaten first!

Trump Towers came out of Trump’s statement:  Grab them by the Pussy!  It was a gut response. I placed Donald in Melania’s pink pussy bow blouse, that she wore to the debates.  I painted “Ms America styled Models” walking in lines, maybe from Trump Towers with Pussy Bow blouses.  Margret Thatcher, is the last female image painted, who put Pussy Bow Blouses in the Fashion world, as she used them to softened her image, being known as the Iron Fist Lady.  Then, I painted the words: Here Kitty Kitty…..Grab them by the pussy.

Flocking with my Flamingo

Flocking with My Flamingo

Growing up in Florida, playing and chasing pink flamingos at the Beer Garden of Bush Gardens, Tampa, Florida, as a child, (before they fenced them off from human interactions), reading Alice in Wonderland’s adventures, (she using one to pay croquet….yes, I played croquet on our lawn), and watching crafts and artists paint flamingos………It became a natural desire to paint my own flamingo.

My Pink Flamingo has wrapped it’s beautiful neck around my own neck and dangles ever so fashionable as I grew up by the ocean and always thought of myself as a blue mermaid……

I and my flamingo dare to stare at you with a fixed gaze inviting you into my fantasy world.

Ethnic Dolls, Oil Painting by Trish Vernazza

My Ethnic Dolls are ones that you won’t find on the shelves of Walmart! A few years ago I received these Muslim styled dolls from a person who knew I appreciated art, crafts and collected interesting dolls. They sat on my art shelf for years staring at me in their plastic boxes. I had never taken the dolls out of their boxes, until a friend and I decided to see the fabrics up close. What a surprise. They were plastic, molded old styled Barbie Dolls, with Yellow Blonde hair, hand painted kookie styled blue eyes, wrapped in these beautiful fabrics. All held together by old rusty pins. I realized how precious they were. Thus began my 6 month process of painting my dolls to come to life.

This artwork was featured/displayed at Mirrors of Mind, Los Angeles, Ca, Psychotherapists as an Artist, 2016.

Coming to America!!

COMING TO AMERICA!

Remake of a Thrift Store Painting. I took the original painting and reworked the image to reflect our current politics and discussion of immigration, gun control and the Miss America pageants. I have a knack for painting our current events that sometimes are hard for people to discuss and converse about.

I reworked this extra tall distorted length woman by painting a crown on her head, (crowning of Miss or Ms. America) dot on her forehead,(Indian culture or a target dot from a rifle, enhanced her dress colors, put a gun in her arms, (in place of flowers for Ms. America Encore), American Flag draped over her arms and enhanced the background.

Coming to America makes a current political statement. Original artist (i am assuming a student’s name is left along with my signature).

Unframed. 20″l x 15″w. Convo me for shipping costs depending on location.
